The Eastern South Regional Police Command has confirmed that eleven suspects connected to the deadly shootout have been arrested and are facing court. Police sources say the suspects were part of rival groups laying claim to the Nawara concession, which has been at the centre of a protracted legal battle with CMS & A&A PRO Mining Company.
Nawara Mining Company insists its concession was taken over despite a court injunction issued on 19th February 2026 that allowed it to continue operating while the dispute was being determined. The company had earlier petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department over an alleged raid on 12th August where it claimed gold concentrate valued at over GH¢100 million was seized and equipment destroyed.
