Ghana, South Korea Strengthen Ties with Bilateral Talks

The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has held bilateral talks with his South Korean counterpart, Lee Jae-Myung, aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in areas such as agribusiness, maritime security, artificial intelligence, and infrastructure development.
According to #GhanaPresidency, the talks were aimed at exploring new avenues for cooperation and deepening existing ties between the two nations. President Mahama recalled the historical ties between Ghana and South Korea, noting that both countries share common values rooted in democracy, respect for human rights, and commitment to international cooperation.
The two leaders discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in agriculture and agribusiness, particularly through ongoing initiatives supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency to boost rice production and enhance food security in Ghana. President Lee Jae-Myung described Ghana as a valued economic partner and informed of the importation of cocoa beans from Ghana for its famous “Ghana Chocolate”.
At the end of the bilateral talks, the two countries signed a framework agreement on climate change, a memorandum of understanding on maritime safety and security, and another on technology, digitalisation, and innovation.
The visit has provided an opportunity to deepen cooperation that will directly benefit the citizens of both countries, said President Lee Jae-Myung. The agreements signed are expected to enhance cooperation and promote economic growth and development in both countries.
