Ofori-Atta’s Red Alert Cleared by Interpol

The Interpol Red Alert issued against former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has been permanently deleted, marking a significant development in the case. According to his lawyers, in a press release dated 13th February, 2026, the deletion of the alert means that Ofori-Atta is no longer subject to international arrest and can travel freely.

The Red Alert was issued in connection with the Ghanaian government’s investigation into the $2.2 billion dollar bond deal during Ofori-Atta’s tenure as Finance Minister. The government had accused him of causing financial loss to the state, leading to his inclusion on the Interpol watchlist.

Ofori-Atta has denied any wrongdoing, saying the bond deal was done in the best interest of Ghana. According to his lawyers, the deletion of the Red Alert is a vindication of his position and a testament to his innocence.

The case has been a major controversy in Ghana, with many seeing it as a test of the country’s justice system. The deletion of the Red Alert is likely to be seen as a significant victory for Ofori-Atta, who has maintained his innocence throughout.

The Ghanaian government has been urged to respect the rule of law and ensure that justice is served in the case. As the matter is now closed, Ofori-Atta can focus on clearing his name and moving forward.

The outcome of the case has implications for Ghana’s economy and its relations with international investors.
