Hajj Pilgrims Face Payment Verification Hurdle

Ghanaian pilgrims who paid for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage but couldn’t make the trip will need to provide proof of payment, says Mohammed Amin Lamptey, Director of Communications at the Pilgrimage Affairs Office. This move aims to ensure that only eligible pilgrims benefit from the Hajj program.

According to the Pilgrims Affairs Office, the Saudi Arabian government has implemented strict permit rules, and those who breached entry rules have been banned from performing Hajj. The office warns that accepting payments from banned individuals will lead to complications.

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has introduced penalties for violating permit rules, including fines and deportation. Pilgrims are advised to verify their status before making payments. The Pilgrims Affairs Office urges accredited Hajj agents to be cautious when collecting payments.

Ghanaian nationals were among those banned from entering Mecca for breaching entry rules, highlighting the need for strict adherence to regulations. The Pilgrims Affairs Office emphasizes that refunds won’t be issued to those banned from Hajj.

The office is working to ensure a smoother process for future Hajj seasons and expects stakeholders to comply with Saudi authorities’ instructions.
