Haruna Iddrisu Praises Mahama, Slams Bawumia’s “Upgrade” Comment
Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has thrown his weight behind John Mahama, saying “it is real” with the former president at the helm, contrasting with Dr. Bawumia’s “it is possible” slogan. Iddrisu emphasized that Ghana’s economy needs a reset, not an upgrade, citing the country’s current hardships and economic challenges.
Iddrisu highlighted Mahama’s achievements, including the Eastern Corridor Roads project and declaring Bupe as Ghana’s second industrial city. He expressed confidence in Mahama’s chances in the Northern Region, Northeast, and Savannah regions, identifying key constituencies like Southern North, Damangu, and Dabwea as crucial to the NDC’s success.
The Education Minister criticized Bawumia’s “upgrade” comment, saying it’s unrealistic to upgrade hardship and high inflation. He accused the NPP of creating problems they’re now asking the NDC to fix.
A recent poll shows Mahama’s approval rating at 73%, with 70% of voters believing the country is headed in the right direction under his administration. Bawumia leads the NPP with 56% support, while Iddrisu edges ahead in the NDC with 27%.
