Volta Regional Minister Commends GEEU for UHAS Hostel Project

 

Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has commended the Global Evangelical Empowerment Union (GEEU) for its efforts to address the student accommodation challenge at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS). The Minister made this remark at the sod-cutting ceremony of an 800-bed hostel facility at Adaklu Kodzobi.

 

According to James Gunu, the hostel project is a timely intervention that will ease the pressure on students at UHAS. He expressed excitement about the initiative, noting that it will contribute significantly to improving the learning environment.

 

The Minister also highlighted the importance of equipping young people with practical skills, citing the National Apprenticeship Programme as a key initiative to address the shortage of skilled artisans in the country. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to promote education, skills development, and sustainable development in the Volta Region.

 

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Rt. Rev. Prosper Samuel Dzomeku, and the Vice-Chancellor of UHAS, Prof. Lydia Aziato. The District Chief Executive for Adaklu, Hon. Jerry Yao Ameko, also graced the occasion.

 

The GEEU’s initiative is expected to provide much-needed relief to students of UHAS and contribute to the development of the Volta Region. The project is a testament to the power of partnerships in driving positive change.

 

The 800-bed hostel facility is expected to be completed soon, providing a significant boost to the university’s efforts to improve student welfare.
