US Launches Military Strike on Venezuela, Maduro Captured

The United States has launched a military strike on Venezuela, resulting in the capture of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. US President Donald Trump confirmed the operation, stating that Maduro has been “captured and flown out of the country” in conjunction with US law enforcement.
Multiple explosions and low-flying aircraft were reported in Caracas, Venezuela’s capital, as the Venezuelan government accused the US of targeting civilian and military installations. The attack has been described as an “imperialist attack” by Maduro’s government, which has urged citizens to mobilize and take to the streets.
Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodriguez stated that she does not know the whereabouts of Maduro and his wife, demanding proof of life. Under Venezuelan law, Rodriguez would assume power in Maduro’s absence. The US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, announced that Maduro and his wife have been indicted in New York and will face charges.
The strike is the latest escalation in tensions between the US and Venezuela, with Trump having previously accused Maduro of running a “narco state”. The US has been building up military forces in the region, including deploying warships and aircraft, amidst allegations of Venezuelan involvement in drug trafficking.
The international community is reacting to the situation, with Cuba condemning the attack as a “criminal act” and Iran’s Foreign Ministry also denouncing the strikes. Argentina’s President Javier Milei has praised Trump’s actions, saying “Long live freedom, dammit!”.
