LGBTQ+ Row: MP Accuses NDC of ‘Smuggling’ Agenda into School Curriculum

A heated controversy has erupted in Ghana’s parliament over allegations that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has secretly introduced LGBTQ+ content into the country’s school curriculum. Rev. Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has accused the NDC of pushing a “mischievous and deliberate” agenda to promote LGBTQ+ values in schools.

According to GHOneNews, Fordjour expressed outrage during a parliamentary session, stating that the NDC’s actions were an affront to Ghana’s cultural and moral values. He urged his colleagues to reject any attempts to introduce LGBTQ+ content into the curriculum, emphasizing that it would be unacceptable to Ghanaian society.

The allegations have sparked intense debate, with some calling for transparency and accountability in the curriculum development process. The Ghana Education Service has yet to comment on the matter, but Fordjour’s claims have fueled concerns about the potential influence of external agendas on the country’s education system.

The controversy comes amid ongoing discussions about Ghana’s LGBTQ+ rights, with some advocating for greater inclusivity and others pushing for stricter laws against same-sex relationships. The issue has polarized public opinion, with many Ghanaians expressing strong views on the matter.

As the debate rages on, Ghana’s parliament is expected to address the allegations and clarify the curriculum’s content. The incident highlights the country’s ongoing struggle to balance tradition and modernity.
