Bawumia Unites NPP Rivals in Policy Push

In a bold move to foster party unity, New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has appointed his four former presidential primary rivals as co-chairmen of the party’s newly established policy committees. According to #3NewsGH, this strategic decision aims to promote cohesion within the party ahead of the 2028 elections.

The appointments bring together Kennedy Agyapong, Kwabena Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, and Yaw Osei Adutwum in key policy roles, overseeing areas such as employment, housing, defence, and education. Each co-chairman is expected to produce data-backed policy proposals for party leadership review.

Dr. Bawumia’s office emphasized that this initiative seeks to shift the NPP from reactive opposition politics to proactive, solution-oriented governance preparation. “Dr. Bawumia wants a party that doesn’t just criticise, he wants a party that can present Ghanaians with a clear, costed, and credible alternative at any point in time,” according to party insiders.

The policy committees will cover critical sectors, including energy, health, transport, and local governance. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah chairs the NPP Policy Committee, with Dr. Kwasi Nyame Baafi serving as secretary.

This move is seen as a significant step towards internal cohesion, leveraging key figures’ experience and influence while easing tensions after the primaries. Political analysts describe it as a strategic consolidation of party strengths, enhancing the NPP’s organisational effectiveness.
