SML/GRA Scandal: Ghana Awaits US Court Outcome

 

 

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has informed the Accra High Court that Ghana is awaiting the outcome of two separate legal proceedings in the United States involving two accused persons in the ongoing SML/GRA revenue assurance scandal. The two individuals are former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and his Chef de Cabinet, Ernest Darko Akore, who are currently residing in the United States.

 

According to the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, the Ghanaian authorities are closely monitoring the US court proceedings, which will have implications for the case in Ghana. The SML/GRA scandal involves allegations of corruption and revenue leakage in a deal between the Ghana Revenue Authority and a private company, Strategic Manpower Limited (SML).

 

The case has sparked widespread interest and concern in Ghana, with many calling for accountability and transparency. The involvement of high-profile individuals has added to the complexity of the case.
