Devotional Prayers

We’ve kicked off 2026 focusing on faith – the foundation for everything. Now, let’s tackle an essential area of discipleship we need this new year: Devotional Prayers. Why? Because faith without devotion is like a car without fuel – it won’t go far.

Devotional Prayers mean cultivating a consistent, passionate fellowship with the Spirit, connecting with Him daily. Like Epaphroditus, we labour fervently in prayers. David said, “Early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;” (Psalm 63:1 WEB). Waking up early to pray isn’t just a routine; it’s a sacred discipline that sets the tone for God’s presence all day.

Fellowship with the Spirit is therapeutic (healing your soul), protective (guarding you from pitfalls), miraculous (unlocking God’s power), and prophetic (guiding your path). In 2026, let’s commit to Devotional Prayers – seeking God wholeheartedly, every day. Fellowship with God isn’t a one-time event; it’s a lifestyle. When we prioritize God in prayer, everything else falls into place.

The labour in prayers like Epaphroditus showed isn’t always easy, but it pays off in the end. Look at major world religions – without the liberty we have through grace, they do a lot by their ardent devotion to the worship of their gods and created spirits. Muslims fast, Hindus meditate, Buddhists discipline themselves… and they reap benefits in influence, community, and conviction. We can’t compete with them in the marketplace of life with levity. If they labour in their “darkness”, how much more should we excel in prayer and devotion to the Living God? Labour in prayer yields results.

Heavenly Father, help me prioritize You in 2026. Give me discipline to seek You first in prayer, daily. Amen.
