Frimpong-Boateng: no one can expel me

Former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has declared that no one can expel him from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), asserting that the party doesn’t belong to its current leadership. According to 3NewsGH, Frimpong-Boateng made this statement during an interview on Channel One TV’s The Point of View, where he criticized the party’s current state, describing it as “fake” and distancing himself from its leadership and direction.
The NPP has responded to Frimpong-Boateng’s comments, describing them as “highly reprehensible and inimical to the values, unity, and integrity of the party”. The party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, has announced that the NPP has commenced internal processes to expel Frimpong-Boateng, citing his disparaging remarks against the party’s leadership and internal structures ¹ ².
Frimpong-Boateng’s comments have sparked intense debate within the NPP, with some members calling for introspection and reforms. He had earlier expressed concerns about the party’s internal democratic processes, alleging that the 2023 presidential primary was tainted by intimidation, bribery, and manipulation of delegates ¹.
The controversy comes amid ongoing discussions about the NPP’s future, with some members advocating for leadership changes following the party’s poor performance in the 2024 general elections. Frimpong-Boateng’s stance has added fuel to the fire, highlighting the deep-seated issues within the party.
The NPP is expected to proceed with disciplinary action against Frimpong-Boateng, with the outcome likely to have significant implications for the party’s future.
