Mahama Shakes Up Cabinet, Nominates Zanetor and Ayariga

President John Dramani Mahama has announced major changes to his administration, nominating Dr Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings for Minister of Environment, Science and Technology and Hon Mahama Ayariga for Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, pending parliamentary approval.
The President has also reassigned Hon Kenneth Gilbert Adjei to the Ministry of Defence and Hon Ahmed Ibrahim to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources. The changes were announced in a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Presidency Communications, as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery.
Dr Agyemang-Rawlings is expected to bring focus to environmental protection, climate issues and scientific development. Hon Ayariga’s new role will cover decentralization, traditional authorities and religious affairs, key areas for community governance.
The move to Defence for Kenneth Gilbert Adjei comes as national security remains a top priority. Ahmed Ibrahim’s new portfolio combines infrastructure, housing and water resources, sectors central to improving living standards.
These appointments draw on the experience of sitting Members of Parliament to enhance coordination between the legislature and the executive. The nominees will now go through parliamentary vetting before assuming office.
The changes signal the President’s intent to inject fresh energy into key ministries as government works to meet its policy targets in the coming months.
