Adwoa Safo insists Kristo Asafo dispute is about legacy, not personal gains.
Former Member of Parliament for Sarah Adwoa Safo has dismissed claims that the ongoing dispute surrounding the Kristo Asafo Mission is driven by ambitions to lead the church or to gain control of her late father’s estate.
In a statement issued on Friday, July 3, 2026, following what she described as an assassination attempt on her life on June 21, Ms. Safo said public commentary surrounding the matter had created a false impression of the issues at the centre of the dispute.
According to her, the controversy has nothing to do with succession, church leadership, property ownership, or inheritance, but rather with ensuring that the final wishes of her late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, are respected and implemented.
“The matter at hand is neither about any aspiration on my part to lead the Kristo Asafo Church, nor does it concern a dispute over church property or, for that matter, inheritance,” she stated.
Ms. Safo stressed that she has never pursued personal financial gain from her father’s estate and has consistently built her life and career through her own efforts. She described herself as a self-made individual who values integrity, independence, and contentment, emphasizing that these principles have guided her long before the passing of her father.
“I have never sought to draw wealth or personal gain from my late father’s estate or properties, but have for many years, even before the passing of our dear dad, chosen to walk a path defined by integrity, contentment, independence and self-determined effort,” she said.
The former legislator maintained that her actions have been motivated solely by a commitment to safeguarding the legacy and directives left behind by Apostle Kwadwo Safo, urging the public to refrain from mischaracterising the dispute.
Her statement comes amid heightened public interest in developments within the Kristo Asafo Mission and follows her allegation that she survived an assassination attempt on June 21, an incident that has further intensified attention on the ongoing controversy.
