DVLA to Replace Faulty 2026 Number Plates

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced plans to replace a batch of defective 2026 vehicle number plates due to durability concerns. According to #GhanaNews, quality checks revealed that some plates are fading, compromising their visibility and legitimacy.

The affected plates were issued earlier this year, and the DVLA has assured vehicle owners that replacements will be provided free of charge. In a statement, the Authority expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and accepted responsibility for the lapse, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining high standards in vehicle registration services.

The DVLA has urged affected vehicle owners to visit any of its offices nationwide for the replacement exercise. This move demonstrates the Authority’s proactive approach to addressing quality issues and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

The replacement exercise comes as part of the DVLA’s broader efforts to modernize Ghana’s vehicle registration system. The new number plate system, set to roll out, features regional codes and zonal identifiers, enhancing security and traceability.

The DVLA has assured the public that it is strengthening its internal quality assurance systems to prevent similar issues in the future. This initiative aims to maintain confidence in the Authority’s services and support the country’s transportation infrastructure.
