Nana Agradaa Walks Free After Sentence Reduction

Former fetish priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has reunited with her family after her release from Nsawam Prison this morning. Her 15-year sentence was reduced to 12 months following an appeal, and she is expected to join her church members later today.
According to the Ghana Police Service, Agradaa’s release comes after she served approximately seven months of her revised sentence, reckoned from the date of her conviction in July 2025. Her lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, had argued that the original sentence was overly harsh and not proportional to the alleged crime.
Agradaa was convicted on July 3, 2025, by an Accra Circuit Court on multiple charges, including charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence. The case stemmed from her promotion of a so-called money-doubling scheme during services at her church in Weija, Greater Accra Region.
The Amasaman High Court described the initial 15-year sentence as harsh and excessive, exercising its discretion to vary the punishment. The revised sentence took effect from July 3, 2025, meaning Agradaa will serve a total of one year in prison.
In a video shared by her husband, Angel Asiamah, Agradaa was seen at her residence with family members, all dressed in white. He captioned the post, “Thank God my wife is finally home”.
Agradaa’s release has received mixed reactions from social media users, with some welcoming the court’s intervention while others question the leniency shown in the appeal ruling.
