GAF Denies Claims of High HIV Rate Among Recruits

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has strongly refuted claims that over 60% of military applicants tested HIV positive, describing the reports as “fake news” and urging the public to disregard them entirely. According to the GAF, the medical screening process for applicants is still ongoing, and no results have been released or declared at this stage.
In a statement, the GAF emphasized that any figures or conclusions being attributed to the process are false and misleading. “The medical process is ongoing and no results have been declared as at now,” the statement stressed.
The GAF has taken steps to identify and trace the originators of the allegedly false publication, noting that the spread of unverified information undermines public trust and institutional integrity. The Armed Forces cautioned media practitioners, particularly content creators, bloggers, and vloggers, to exercise restraint and professionalism in their work.
According to (link unavailable), the GAF urged media actors to verify information from credible and official sources before publishing, stressing the importance of accuracy and responsible journalism, especially on sensitive national matters.
The GAF reiterated its commitment to transparency and assured the public that official information would be communicated through the appropriate channels when the medical screening process is duly completed.
The Ghana Armed Forces’ response aims to curb the spread of misinformation and maintain public confidence in the recruitment process.
