An Accra High Court has granted bail to Salomey Awity Baffoe, who was arrested over the alleged sharing of a video by Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as “Ghana Jollof,” containing claims about an alleged coup at the Jubilee House. The court set bail at GH¢100,000 with two sureties.
The court directed that the two sureties must be civil servants earning not less than GH¢3,000 per month. The condition is to guarantee appearance for trial while the Republic expedites investigations into the Ghana Jollof account.

Prosecutors allege that Madam Baffoe assisted the Ghana Jollof account in circulating videos and recruiting others to share them on social media. She faces a charge of abetment of publication of false news and has pleaded not guilty. The prosecution says financial transactions moved between her and the operator.
The case has become a major flashpoint after private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu criticized EOCO’s attempted arrest of Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah inside the Accra High Court. Kpebu said lawyers should not be arrested while performing duties in court, and it is worse when the person is a sitting MP.

The High Court’s latest ruling marks a shift from its September 24 decision refusing bail on grounds of ongoing cyber-related investigations and risk of interference with electronic evidence. The court then ordered the Republic to expedite investigations.
With bail now granted at GH¢100,000, her legal team led by Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah is expected to present the two qualified civil servant sureties. The court has adjourned proceedings to Monday, 5th October, 2026, with virtual hearing to continue under the Judiciary’s e-justice programme.
