John Boadu Leads New NPP Executives Elected Baba Yara

The New Patriotic Party has elected new national executives on Saturday 3rd October 2026 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, with over 7,000 delegates participating in the exercise. The election is expected to steer the party’s reorganization towards the 2028 general election after its time in opposition.

According to the Electoral Commission declaration, former General Secretary John Boadu staged a comeback as National Chairman with 2,888 votes, beating Boakye Agyarko and former Chairman Paul Afoko. Justin Frimpong Kodua was retained as General Secretary with 4,486 votes, recording the highest votes among all contestants.

The full list of newly elected executives includes Kojo Fosu Boadu as 1st Vice Chairman with 3,116 votes, Henry Nana Boakye as 2nd Vice Chairman with 3,061 votes, and Nana Akomea as 3rd Vice Chairman with 2,937 votes. Alfred Kwadwo Thompson was elected National Treasurer with 2,243 votes, while Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover won National Organiser with 2,964 votes.

For the other positions, Mavis Hawa Koomson claimed National Women’s Organiser with 783 votes, Abanga Fuseini Yakubu secured National Youth Organiser with 1,550 votes, Mohammed Ali Suraj won National Nasara Organiser with 372 votes, and Dennis Edward Miracles Aboagye was returned unopposed as National Communications Director. The party described the process as a demonstration of its democratic credentials.

In his acceptance speech, John Boadu pledged to rebuild the NPP from the grassroots and restore its winning machinery, calling for unity and consultation. He said today is not merely a day of victory but a day of responsibility and great unity, inviting all contestants to contribute their ideas and networks for the party’s development.

Boadu stressed that there must be no winners and losers, only one NPP united around one purpose, and promised to work closely with flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, regional and constituency executives, MPs and voluntary groups. He added that political victory is never an entitlement and must be earned through service, organisation and the trust of Ghanaians, declaring that JB and his executives are back and victory is assured in 2028.
