Walking Uprightly

“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he
withhold from them that walk uprightly.” — Psalm 84:11 KJV

God delights in uprightness. Walking uprightly is not struggling to be perfect; it is living with a sincere heart before God, choosing truth when lies would be easier, choosing right when wrong is attractive. An upright man is not a flawless man, but a faithful man whose heart is aligned to
God. To walk uprightly is to walk in integrity when no one is watching. God sees. “Whoso walketh
uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once” — Proverbs 28:18
KJV. Uprightness preserves you. Crookedness may seem to profit for a season, but uprightness
secures your future. God is committed to those who walk uprightly; He withholds no good thing
from them.

Walking uprightly is not by human strength. The flesh is weak and the world is crooked, but the
Holy Spirit straightens our walk. He convicts us of compromise, He teaches us to love righteousness and hate iniquity, He strengthens us to say no to sin and yes to God. Without the
Spirit, uprightness becomes struggle. With the Spirit, it becomes nature. The upright man enjoys confidence before God. He prays and heaven hears. He sleeps in peace. He walks in light. “The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them” — Proverbs 11:3 KJV. Your integrity is your guide. It leads you away from traps, away from
shame, into favour and honour. God defends the upright, He shields the upright, He promotes the
upright.

We walk uprightly by the Spirit. “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust
of the flesh” — Galatians 5:16 KJV. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, He orders your steps,
purifies your motives, and empowers you to walk in truth, in purity, and in love. The Spirit makes
your path straight.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your grace and glory. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and teach me to walk uprightly before You. Purify my heart, guide my steps, and help me to choose integrity over compromise every day. I receive grace to walk in truth, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
