Communications Minister Sam George has issued a resolute admonition to telecommunications service providers, insisting that Ghanaian subscribers must receive commensurate value for every pesewa expended on voice and data services. According to The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, the consumer sovereignty remains paramount and that regulatory forbearance would no longer shield operators who compromise quality of service while extracting substantial revenue. He emphasized that licensing privileges entail enforceable obligations to deliver reliable connectivity, equitable pricing and transparent product architecture.
During his turn at the Accountability Series, he said that Ghanaians deserve full value from telecom operators and that government will not countenance exploitative practices that undermine digital inclusion. He is further quoted as cautioning that persistent network disruptions, unsolicited deductions and substandard internet throughput constitute breaches of consumer trust that demand immediate remediation and stringent regulatory enforcement.
