Disability Coalition Leader Employed

Presidential staffer Dr Sammy Ayeh has disclosed that the leader of the Coalition of Persons Living with Disabilities who staged a picket at Jubilee House earlier this week is gainfully employed. The revelation appears aimed at reframing the narrative surrounding the protest and government’s responsiveness to disability related concerns.
The group had converged on the seat of government to demand accelerated attention to their welfare, inclusion and livelihood support, citing persistent marginalization and unfulfilled policy commitments. Their action drew considerable public sympathy and renewed scrutiny of state interventions for persons with disabilities.
Addressing the matter, Dr Ayeh indicated that checks had established employment status for the coalition’s president, suggesting that the broader grievances may not be rooted in absolute neglect but rather in structural gaps that still require redress. He argued that government has made tangible strides in disability inclusion through social protection and empowerment initiatives.
In GHOne TV broadcast monitored this morning, Dr Ayeh made the clarification during a live discussion on the demonstration and its implications. He urged the coalition to pursue constructive engagement rather than confrontational optics, while affirming commitment to sustained dialogue.
The development has sparked mixed reactions, with advocates cautioning against reducing legitimate collective concerns to the personal circumstance of a single leader. Stakeholders insist that employment of one individual does not negate systemic barriers confronting thousands of persons living with disabilities across the country.
