Presidential Advisor on the Twenty Four Hour Economy, Goosie Tanoh, has publicly disowned any ongoing development of twenty four hour markets, stating unequivocally that his Secretariat is unaware of such projects. The declaration casts fresh uncertainty over the implementation architecture of one of government’s flagship economic interventions.
Speaking with candour, Mr Tanoh emphasized that the Twenty Four Hour Economy Secretariat has not sanctioned, supervised or received briefing on any market infrastructure being branded under the policy. He stressed that his office remains the sole coordinating authority for the program and any activity outside its purview lacks legitimacy.
The comment appears to contradict recent public pronouncements and visual materials suggesting that certain markets were being repurposed to operate round the clock. Observers say the disconnect raises critical questions about inter agency coordination and fidelity to the original policy blueprint.
In a GHOne TV broadcast monitored this morning, Mr Tanoh made the remarks during a live interview where he sought to clarify the scope and sequencing of the policy rollout. He reiterated that market development is not currently within the Secretariat’s operational matrix.
The Twenty Four Hour Economy has been positioned as a transformative productivity agenda aimed at stimulating nocturnal economic activity, enhancing employment and optimizing national infrastructure. However, the latest disavowal suggests that implementation remains inchoate and susceptible to misinterpretation at the local level.
