MOH Shuts Techiman Krobo NTC Over Student Unrest
Students have been ordered to vacate the campus immediately after unrest as MOH temporarily shuts the institution.
The Ministry of Health has ordered the immediate temporary closure of the Nursing Training College, Techiman Krobo, following sustained student unrest and what it described as a breakdown in discipline and adherence to the institution’s rules and regulations. The directive, which took effect on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, requires all students to leave the campus by 5:00 p.m. the same day and return to their respective homes. Parents and guardians have also been advised to make the necessary arrangements to receive their wards.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry on Wednesday July 29, the decision was reached after a series of disturbances that disrupted academic activities and threatened the peace, safety, and orderly administration of the college. The Ministry disclosed that several interventions had been undertaken in an attempt to restore calm before the closure was announced.
These interventions included meetings, counselling sessions, and appeals involving key stakeholders, including the Regional Security Council. Despite these efforts to promote dialogue and restore order, some students allegedly continued to engage in conduct that undermined discipline and the smooth running of the institution.
Officials explained that the temporary closure is intended to restore calm, safeguard lives and property, and provide the appropriate authorities with the opportunity to assess the situation thoroughly before determining the conditions under which the college can safely reopen. The Ministry assured students, parents, staff, and the public that every effort would be made to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. It noted that information regarding the reopening of the institution would be communicated through official channels once the necessary assessments and interventions have been completed.
While expressing appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of all stakeholders, the Ministry reiterated its commitment to restoring a safe, peaceful, and disciplined learning environment that supports effective teaching and learning.
