Police set to investigate Officer’s Alleged Misconduct.
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video allegedly showing a police officer attempting to stone a young man who was filming him which sparked allegations of misconduct and emotional intelligence of the policewoman at Afrancho in the Akomadan District.
In a press release issued on July 5, 2026, the Command confirmed that it had taken notice of the widely circulated footage and had identified the police officer at the centre of the incident.
According to the statement, investigations have already commenced to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the alleged misconduct, which is reported to have occurred on July 3, 2026. “The police officer has been identified and investigation has commenced to establish the full facts and circumstances surrounding the incident” the statement stated.
The Police assured the public that appropriate action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
The Command further reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, discipline and accountability, stressing that it remains dedicated to ensuring that all officers uphold the highest standards of conduct in the discharge of their duties.
It also assured the public that further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
The development follows the circulation of the viral video on social media, which has generated widespread public attention and calls for accountability over the officer’s alleged conduct. The Police say the ongoing investigation will establish the facts surrounding the incident before any disciplinary measures are taken.
