The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a special expedited passport replacement initiative to assist Ghanaians whose passports were lost or damaged during the recent devastating floods that affected parts of the country.
Under the emergency intervention, affected individuals will have their lost or damaged passports replaced within one week, significantly reducing the normal processing period to ease the burden on victims seeking to restore their travel documents.
The Ministry said the initiative forms part of government’s response to support citizens who suffered losses as a result of the floods, many of whom lost important personal documents when homes and businesses were inundated.

By introducing the fast-track replacement exercise, the Ministry aims to ensure that affected passport holders can quickly regain access to essential travel and identification documents without unnecessary delays.
In announcing the initiative, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to standing with citizens during this difficult period, emphasizing that the special arrangement reflects government’s determination to provide practical assistance to those impacted by the disaster.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces a special expedited initiative to replace Ghanaian passports damaged or lost due to the recent devastating floods. Lost and damaged passports shall be replaced within a week. We stand in solidarity with our compatriots,” the Ministry stated.
The announcement has been welcomed as a timely intervention, particularly for individuals with urgent travel commitments, students, businesspersons and others whose international travel plans could have been disrupted by the loss or destruction of their passports.
The initiative adds to a series of measures being implemented by government institutions to support victims of the recent floods and accelerate recovery efforts across affected communities.
