Ghana’s Music Landscape Shines at 27th TGMA

The 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) lit up the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, celebrating the crème de la crème of Ghanaian music. Black Sherif emerged as the night’s biggest winner, clinching the prestigious Artiste of the Year award for the second time, solidifying his position as one of Ghana’s most influential contemporary artistes.
According to Ghanaweb, Black Sherif’s dominance was evident, with a total of five awards, including Best Hiphop Song for “Where Dem Boys”, Best Afropop Song for “Sacrifice”, Songwriter of the Year for “Sacrifice”, and Album of the Year for “Iron Boy”. Medikal, on the other hand, took home four awards, including Best Hiplife/Hip-Hop Artiste and Best Collaboration for his hit song “Shoulder” featuring Shatta Wale and Beeztrap KOTM.
The night also saw Kofi Kinaata winning Best Highlife Artiste, while Stonebwoy secured his 10th TGMA Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year award. Wendy Shay was crowned Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste, and Diana Hamilton took home Best Gospel Artiste.
In a night of glamour and outstanding performances, other notable winners included Keche as Group of the Year, Kojo Blak as Best New Artiste, and A’town as Producer of the Year for Medikal’s “Shoulder”. The event was a testament to the thriving music scene in Ghana, with artistes pushing boundaries and showcasing their talents.
The 27th TGMA was a celebration of Ghanaian music’s global reach, with international collaborations and recognition. Moliy’s “Shake It to the Max” remix won International Collaboration of the Year, highlighting the growing influence of Ghanaian artistes worldwide.
