Ghana Breaks Ground on Major Glass Factory

President John Dramani Mahama has launched the construction of a state-of-the-art glass factory, New Float Glass Manufacturing Company, in Shama, Western Region, marking a significant milestone in Ghana’s industrial transformation agenda. The ceremony, organized by KEDA (Ghana) Ceramics Company Limited, also featured the inauguration of the company’s fifth phase of Tile Production Line and the commissioning of a modern sanitary wares factory.

According to President Mahama, the float glass facility will produce 1,400 tons of glass daily, positioning it among the largest on the African continent. The project is expected to reduce imports, generate an estimated $100 million in annual exports, strengthen local supply chains, and create sustainable employment opportunities.

The president emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving Ghana’s industrialization, stating that government must provide stability, investors bring capital, and communities offer strong partnership. “Ghana’s industrialisation will succeed when we work together,” he said.

The New Float Glass Manufacturing Company is expected to contribute significantly to national revenue through taxes and promote Made-in-Ghana products globally. President Mahama urged management and staff to treat the factory as their own, emphasizing the need for skill, innovation, and quality.

The project is a testament to Ghana’s commitment to industrial growth and economic development. When fully operational, the factory will be a major player in the regional glass industry.

The ceremony was attended by government officials, industry stakeholders, and community leaders, highlighting the significance of the project.
