NDC Ayawaso East Slams Majority Caucus Interference

The Ayawaso East Constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have hit back at the Majority Caucus in Parliament over calls to annul the party’s recent parliamentary primary in the constituency. According to Channel One News, the executives have described the Majority Caucus’s concerns as moot, saying they were not present during the primary.
The Majority Caucus, led by Mahama Ayariga, had cited allegations of vote buying and questioned the legitimacy of the primary won by former Ghana High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal. However, Ayawaso East NDC Communications Officer, Musah Ali, dismissed the concerns, saying the Majority Caucus should focus on their own constituencies.
“The communiqué by the Majority is moot, in the sense that none of them was there. I challenge any parliamentarian to come to us and tell us that he or she was on the ground and that this is what they observed,” Musah Ali said. He accused the Majority Caucus of trying to impose a candidate on the constituency.
The NDC’s Ayawaso East Constituency is a key seat, and the party’s primary has sparked controversy. Baba Jamal’s victory has been questioned by some, but the local party executives are standing firm.
The Majority Caucus’s statement has been seen as an attempt to interfere in the NDC’s internal affairs. The NDC has warned that it will not tolerate external interference in its processes.
The controversy highlights the intense rivalry within Ghana’s political parties as they prepare for future elections.
