Egypt Pledges Deeper Security Ties with Ghana

The Egyptian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Wael Fathy, has pledged to deepen security cooperation between Ghana and Egypt during a courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak. The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral ties, focusing on security sector collaboration.

 

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the discussions centered on reviewing the longstanding historical relations between Ghana and Egypt and exploring practical ways to enhance cooperation in areas such as border security, counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, and capacity building.

 

The two sides discussed potential collaboration in intelligence sharing, police training, migration management, and countering emerging threats such as cybercrime. Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak welcomed the initiative, highlighting the importance of cooperation in addressing shared security challenges.

 

The Egyptian Ambassador expressed his country’s commitment to working with Ghana to combat transnational crimes and enhance regional security. This meeting underscores the strong historical ties between Ghana and Egypt, with both countries seeking to leverage their partnership for mutual benefit.
