Minority MPs Snub Chief Justice’s Parliament Visit

In a surprising move, minority lawmakers have announced plans to boycott the Chief Justice’s upcoming visit to Parliament, citing disagreements over the country’s judicial system. The decision has sparked intense debate among Ghanian politicians and citizens alike.

According to Citi Newsroom, the minority group expressed concerns over the Chief Justice’s perceived bias in handling recent high-profile cases. “We cannot in good conscience participate in an event that undermines the principles of justice and fairness,” said a spokesperson for the minority party.

The boycott comes amid rising tensions between the judiciary and the legislature. The Chief Justice’s visit was intended to foster better understanding between the two arms of government. However, the minority MPs’ decision has thrown a wrench into the plans.

The Ghana Bar Association has expressed disappointment over the development, calling for calm and dialogue. “The judiciary is a cornerstone of our democracy, and we must respect its independence,” said a prominent lawyer.

The minority MPs’ decision has also sparked concerns over the impact on the country’s judicial system. Many are watching to see how the situation unfolds.

The Chief Justice’s office has yet to comment on the boycott. The visit is scheduled to take place next week.
