Existential Faith
“The just shall live by faith.” – Romans 1:17 WEB, Habakkuk 2:4
Existential faith is the practical outworking of believing in God in every aspect of life. It’s “living faith” – not just a theoretical or occasional faith, but a routine, everyday reliance on God. Think of it as “routinized faith” where believing God becomes a lifestyle.
It is faith for existence. As scripture says, “For in Him we live, and move, and have our being” (Acts 17:28 WEB) – God is intricately involved in every part of our lives. He’s interested in every detail (Matthew 10:30, 1 Peter 5:7). Existential faith means believing God is at work in the mundane, the challenges, and the ordinary.
Academically speaking, existential faith aligns with the concept of “embodied faith” or “lived faith” – where belief translates into daily actions, decisions, and believing in God’s sovereignty over all of life.
Let’s live with existential faith – believing God in every detail.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me live by faith in every detail of life. I believe You’re at work in all things. Amen.
