Maduro and Wife Injured in US Forces Arrest

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were injured after hitting their heads while fleeing US forces attempting to arrest them, according to CNN. The couple was apprehended in a nighttime raid at their Caracas residence, part of a larger operation involving the US Army’s Delta Force and FBI.

According to CNN, Maduro and Flores were dragged from their bedroom during the operation, which lasted under 30 minutes. The couple appeared in court with visible injuries, with Flores sporting bandages on her face and reportedly suffering a possible rib fracture and bruising.

Flores’ attorney, Mark Donnelly, confirmed she sustained significant injuries during the arrest and requested a full X-ray and physical evaluation to ensure her health. Maduro’s lawyer also cited his client’s health concerns, stating he required medical attention.

The US operation, dubbed “Operation Absolute Resolve,” aimed to capture Maduro on narco-terrorism charges. The Venezuelan government condemned the raid as a “grave military aggression” and violation of international law.

US officials maintained the operation wasn’t a regime change effort, with the government remaining intact under Vice President Delcy Rodriguez. Cuba reported 32 of its military and police officers killed during the operation.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions, with some Venezuelans celebrating while others stockpiled food amid fears of instability.
