NPP Must Change Course to Regain Public Trust, Says Dr. Bryan Acheampong

Dr. Bryan Acheampong, a presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has warned that the party risks losing public trust if it sticks with the same candidate in the 2026 elections. He emphasized that Ghanaians have forgiven the National Democratic Congress (NDC), implying that the NPP should also be given a chance to change its approach.

Acheampong, who is also the MP for Abetifi, expressed concerns about the party’s structural challenges and divisions, particularly between supporters of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong. He believes that continuing with the same candidate will not bring about change and urged Dr. Bawumia to withdraw from the flagbearer race.

The NPP has five presidential aspirants, including Acheampong, Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, vying for the party’s flagbearer position in the January 31, 2026, primary.
