Mahama Highlights Ghana’s Economic Recovery, Calls for Integrity and National Unity
President John Dramani Mahama has expressed optimism about Ghana’s economic outlook, pointing to improving macroeconomic indicators, declining inflation, and renewed investor confidence as evidence that the country’s economy is steadily recovering.
Speaking at the Muslim Prayers and Thanksgiving Service held at the National Mosque as part of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, the President said the progress achieved so far reflects prudent economic management, the resilience of the Ghanaian people, and the collective sacrifices made by citizens in recent years.
According to President Mahama, while the signs of recovery are encouraging, there is still much work to be done to ensure that the benefits of economic growth reach every Ghanaian. He stressed that sustaining the recovery would require continued discipline, sound policy implementation, and a shared national commitment to building an inclusive and resilient economy.
“The gains we are witnessing today must be consolidated through sustained effort and collective responsibility to guarantee shared prosperity for all,” he stated
Beyond the economy, President Mahama called for a national reset founded on integrity, accountability, and responsible leadership. He urged both public office holders and ordinary citizens to reject corruption and uphold the highest ethical standards in their daily lives.
He emphasized that national transformation cannot be achieved through government action alone but requires every Ghanaian to contribute by demonstrating honesty, patriotism, and a commitment to public service.
The President noted that rebuilding public trust in institutions depends on transparency and accountability, adding that individual actions play a crucial role in shaping the country’s future.
Addressing the gathering, President Mahama also praised Ghana’s enduring culture of religious harmony and peaceful coexistence, describing the country’s diversity as one of its greatest strengths. He continued to commend the cordial relationship between Ghana’s various religious communities and encouraged citizens to continue promoting mutual respect, tolerance, and understanding across religious and ethnic divides.
According to him, preserving national unity remains essential to sustaining peace, strengthening democracy, and accelerating socio-economic development.
President Mahama urged Ghanaians to remain united in purpose and work together toward building a more prosperous, peaceful, and just nation, stressing that the country’s progress depends on the collective efforts of all its citizens.
