NPP’s Ho Central Constituency Organizer, King-David Norgbey, has criticized former President John Mahama’s approach to the Kade SHS teacher assault case. Norgbey believes Mahama should have given directives to the Ministry of Education and Interior to prosecute the matter instead of just expressing his concerns. This statement was made on Ewenyigba TV’s Morning Show with Tony Mark-Boye today, January 6, 2026.
The incident involved Michael Quayson, a teacher at Kade SHS, who was assaulted by students allegedly for being strict during the invigilation of the Christian Religious Studies WASSCE 2025 paper. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has condemned the assault, vowing punitive actions against the students.
Mahama had condemned the attack, describing it as “criminal and unacceptable” while addressing the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Conference. He expressed disappointment that despite the incident being reported to the police, no formal disciplinary or legal action was taken against the students after their parents reportedly reached an out-of-court settlement with the teacher.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for swift action against the perpetrators. NAGRAT has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of all students involved, warning of a nationwide sit-down strike if justice is not delivered within 14 working days.
