15 Arrested Over Ho Central Mosque


The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested 15 suspects in connection with a shooting incident at the Ho Central Mosque, bringing tensions to a head. The incident occurred on Friday, December 26, disrupting morning jummah prayers and leaving at least seven Muslims injured, who are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Ho.
Clash Over Imam Position
Eyewitnesses say the violence erupted when supporters of Alhaji Alfa Anas clashed with armed men allegedly providing security for the newly installed Chief Imam. The dispute over the Volta Regional Chief Imam position has been ongoing for over a decade, with two factions led by Alhaji Alfa Anas and the newly installed Imam.
Security Forces Respond Swiftly
Security forces responded quickly, taking the suspects into custody and deploying a joint team of police and military personnel to restore calm and secure the mosque. Despite the tension, residents prepared to proceed with Jummah prayers under heavy security presence.
