Tears As Late UCC Student Innocentia Avinu Goes Home

The family of the late Innocentia Atsufui Avinu struggled to hold back tears as her casket was carried out of the church following her funeral service on Saturday.
The burial comes over two months after the Level 200 Bachelor of Commerce student of the University of Cape Coast was found dead at the Hutchland Beach area near Duakor in Cape Coast. She had been reported missing after her roommate said she received a phone call and left their private hostel at Amamoma on June 11, 2026. 3fd4
According to police, residents reported that a body had washed ashore and officers who examined it at the scene found no visible signs of physical injury. The body was later identified by family members as that of Innocentia, a native of Dzodze in the Ketu North Constituency and a beneficiary of the scholarship scheme of MP Edem Agbana. eaf16002
She was a member of PENSA, the Pentecost Students and Associates, and was remembered at the funeral for her commitment to church activities.
Her death led to the Inspector General of Police deploying a special team to support investigations into the circumstances, with a 39-year-old man later arrested in connection with the case. 9db4
Mourners described her passing as a painful loss, with the final rites marked by an emotional eulogy celebrating her faith and promising academic life.
