GRA Tackles Ghana.gov Tax Payment Glitches

Tax payments may face delays, but tax filing remains unaffected.

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) says it is working with its technical partners to resolve intermittent challenges affecting the payment of taxes through the Ghana.gov payment platform. The technical difficulties, which began on Friday, August 14, 2026, have affected payment transactions initiated through the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) and Ghana Integrated Tax Management and Information System (GITMIS).

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 20, the GRA said the problem is limited specifically to payment processing and does not affect taxpayers’ ability to file their tax returns. Although the Ghana.gov payment platform remains operational, the Authority acknowledged that some transactions may take longer to process or may not immediately reflect on taxpayers’ respective online portals. The development could affect taxpayers, importers and clearing agents who rely on the affected systems to complete their financial obligations to the state, particularly where payments are time-sensitive.

The GRA, however, sought to reassure users that delayed transactions have not been lost and will be processed and reflected on taxpayers’ portals once the technical difficulties are fully resolved. “Technical interventions are ongoing, and the matter is being treated with the highest priority,” the Authority said. The GRA said it is working closely with relevant technical partners to identify and address the cause of the intermittent payment-processing problem and restore normal service.

It also said measures were being implemented to address affected transactions and minimize further disruption to taxpayers and other stakeholders. The Authority urged taxpayers to remain patient as the technical teams work to normalize the system, while assuring the public that further updates would be provided where necessary.

As Ghana increasingly relies on digital platforms for tax administration and payment, the latest disruption could make the smooth operation of systems linking taxpayers to the revenue authority critical to timely compliance. The GRA apologized for the inconvenience caused by the payment difficulties and expressed appreciation to taxpayers, importers, clearing agents and other stakeholders for their patience and understanding.
