Haruna Iddrisu Unveils Kindergarten Tech Curriculum Plan

Ghana will embed coding, artificial intelligence, and electronics into kindergarten classrooms as part of a transformative educational blueprint aimed at cultivating digital fluency from the earliest stage of learning, a move poised to redefine foundational pedagogy nationwide.
According to Minister for Education Haruna Iddrisu, the paradigm shift responds to the exigencies of a global knowledge economy where algorithmic literacy and technological dexterity are indispensable for future competitiveness. He emphasized that introducing computational concepts through play-based, tactile instruction will dismantle barriers to STEM and nurture indigenous ingenuity.
According to Minister for Education Haruna Iddrisu, the curriculum will deploy age-appropriate programming modules, robotics kits, and basic circuitry exercises to instill problem-solving habits and logical sequencing in pre-primary pupils. Teachers are slated for comprehensive retooling to ensure pedagogical fidelity and to translate complex digital principles into child-centric learning experiences.
According to curriculum strategists, the initiative aligns with continental aspirations for human capital development and positions Ghana as a continental pacesetter in early childhood digital education. Pilot cohorts will commence in selected districts before a phased national rollout, supported by infrastructure partnerships to equip classrooms with devices and connectivity.
According to Minister for Education Haruna Iddrisu, the reform transcends mere content addition and represents a philosophical reorientation toward experiential learning, critical inquiry, and innovation ecosystems. By anchoring technological tutelage at kindergarten, the state intends to future-proof its workforce and accelerate socioeconomic transformation under the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
