Energy Minister Acknowledges Public Discontent

The Minister of Energy, Dr. John Jinapor, has conceded that Ghanaians are unhappy with the recent power outages, describing it as an unacceptable situation. According to #GHOneNews, Jinapor emphasized that the challenges facing the country’s power sector are not of the people’s making, urging citizens to remain patient as the government works to resolve the issue.

Jinapor’s remarks come amidst widespread frustration and anger among Ghanaians, who have been experiencing frequent power cuts in recent weeks. The minister acknowledged that the situation is far from ideal, but cautioned against simplistic solutions, criticizing those who claim that the government is doing nothing to address the problem.

“The people of Ghana know that this challenge is not of our making, and it’s a better approach than to say we are doing ‘dum sie sie’,” Jinapor said, referring to a local phrase implying inaction. He assured that the government is working tirelessly to address the underlying issues affecting power supply.

The Energy Minister’s comments suggest a recognition of the government’s responsibility to provide reliable electricity to the population. However, the lack of a clear timeline for resolving the crisis is likely to fuel ongoing public discontent.

The power outages have had a significant impact on Ghana’s economy and daily life, with many businesses and households affected by the disruptions.
