Government Rolls Out Buses to Ease Commuter Wailings

In a bid to cushion commuters from the sting of recent fuel price hikes, the government has deployed 100 Metro Mass buses to key routes across the country. This timely intervention aims to provide affordable transportation alternatives, offering relief to many who have been grappling with the escalating costs of travel.

According to Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the buses will operate on high-traffic routes, prioritizing peak hours to stabilize transport costs. The fares charged will be significantly lower than those of private operators, providing much-needed respite to commuters.

The 100 buses form part of a larger fleet of 300, set to be rolled out in phases. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges posed by rising fuel prices, which have had far-reaching impacts on the economy and daily life.

President John Mahama has also directed ministers and senior government officials to comply with the ban on fuel allowances, a move aimed at containing costs and demonstrating solidarity with the citizenry. This gesture is seen as a demonstration of the government’s resolve to tackle the issue head-on.

The government is expected to review the situation in four weeks, with further actions anticipated to mitigate the effects of the fuel price hike. As the nation navigates these challenging times, this initiative offers a glimmer of hope for many struggling to make ends meet.
