Volta Police Nab Two Suspects in Major Drug Bust

The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals, Etornam Vumadzi and Emmanuel Komlagah, for allegedly trafficking substances suspected to be narcotic drugs in the Volta Region. According to the police statement, the suspects were intercepted on January 30, 2026, while transporting the suspected substances from Godenu towards Togo in a Toyota minibus.
The police, acting on intelligence, conducted a search on the vehicle and retrieved 18 sacks containing 648 parcels of suspected narcotic substances. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects attempted to bribe the police officers with GH¢32,000, while a third party offered an additional GH¢150,000 to compromise the operation. However, the officers rejected the bribes, demonstrating their commitment to combating drug trafficking.
The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before the court. The police have assured the public of their continued efforts to disrupt drug trafficking activities in the region.
According to Inspector Felix Kwao, the Volta North Regional Public Relations Officer, the police are working to determine the origin of the substances and the intended destination. The operation is part of the police’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.
