Volta Region Tackles Security Concerns with Interior Minister

Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, led a delegation from the Volta Regional House of Chiefs to meet with Ghana’s Interior Minister, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, to discuss pressing security issues. The meeting focused on addressing concerns surrounding inland border checkpoints and ensuring the dignity and rights of citizens are respected.
According to James Gunu’s post, the meeting was productive, with the Minister assuring the delegation that any misconduct by security personnel would be dealt with firmly. Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, shared firsthand concerns received from commuters and residents, highlighting the need for balanced security measures.
The Interior Minister explained the national security importance of the checkpoints and appealed for continued cooperation from the traditional authorities. Gunu expressed gratitude for the open engagement and reiterated the Volta Region’s commitment to working closely with the Ministry to maintain peace and security.
The Volta Region is known as one of the most peaceful regions in Ghana, with a growing reputation as a safe hub for investors. Gunu highlighted this fact, emphasizing the region’s standing and the need to protect its peace.
Gunu appealed to the revered chiefs to remain calm as corrective measures are implemented, ensuring security is balanced with human dignity. He reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the region’s interests and maintaining peace.
