Mahama Stands Firm on Law Amid Asake’s Plea for Cyborg

President John Mahama has insisted that the law takes its course in the case of a man known as Cyborg, who was arrested for firing a gun into the air during a meet-up with Nigerian music star Asake. The incident occurred on December 28, and Cyborg was arrested the following day.

Asake personally approached President Mahama at the Supercar Spectacle Sponsors Appreciation event in Accra, pleading for leniency. He explained that the firearm was discharged in the excitement of the moment. However, Mahama was firm, stating, “Don’t worry about it. The law is the law”.

The interaction has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising Mahama for upholding the law and others expecting Cyborg to be pardoned. Asake’s gesture highlights the complexities of celebrity influence and the rule of law in Ghana.

Cyborg, whose real name is Abubakari Sadick, was arrested at Adenta for possession and discharging a firearm. The police are conducting investigations and will keep the public informed of any developments.

The incident has raised concerns about public safety and the responsible use of firearms in Ghana. Mahama’s stance emphasizes the importance of respecting the law, regardless of one’s status or influence.

Asake’s visit to Ghana was part of his promotional tour, and he performed at the AfroFuture Festival, attracting large crowds.
