The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has confirmed the arrest of a Syrian national at the Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon, on Saturday, October 31, 2026, after arriving from Accra, Ghana.
According to NACOC, the suspect was found in possession of approximately 40 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine concealed in two pieces of luggage.
The Commission said the arrest resulted from a coordinated controlled delivery operation involving Ghanaian and Lebanese drug law enforcement authorities, aimed at identifying and apprehending persons at both ends of the trafficking chain while gathering intelligence to dismantle the wider network.
NACOC said efforts were underway to arrest the suspect’s alleged accomplices in Ghana as part of ongoing investigations into the transnational criminal syndicate behind the shipment.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to working with international partners to disrupt drug trafficking networks through cross border intelligence sharing and joint operations.
