In his charge, President Mahama urged the diplomats to identify investors whose interests align with Ghana’s development priorities, open new markets for Ghanaian businesses, and build relationships that support skills development, research, and technology transfer. He said success of missions must be measured by investments attracted, jobs created, and market access secured.
The President stressed the need to protect Ghana’s freedom to make sovereign decisions, secure access to markets and technology, and promote industrialisation through greater value addition to natural resources including gold, lithium, bauxite and manganese. He cited initiatives like the Ghana Gold Board and Ghana’s application for BRICS partnership as strategic platforms the envoys must explain and leverage.

President Mahama further emphasised the welfare of Ghanaians abroad as a non-negotiable duty, calling for efficient consular services and proactive protection of citizens in the diaspora. He also reaffirmed Ghana’s foreign policy stance on global peace, including support for a peaceful two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The new ambassadors are expected to assume duty in the coming weeks with clear Key Performance Indicators on investment, trade expansion and diaspora engagement, as government pushes its Resetting Ghana Agenda to reset the economy through strategic global partnerships.
