Rita Sowah Warns 37 Station Next, Vows To Resist

La Dadekotopon MP Rita Naa Odoley Sowah arrived to confront the military, questioning why La was being targeted. She told journalists she had earlier engaged authorities and received assurances that structures around Labadi Beach Hotel would be spared, only to find demolition ongoing. According to her, officials later claimed the land belongs to Labadi Beach Hotel. She asked, “What has La done to deserve this?” and condemned the manner of eviction.
The operation follows the September 13, 2026 demolition at Laboma Beach where structures within the Kpeshie Lagoon buffer, including Pink Flamingo Lounge, were removed by the Post-Flood Mitigation Taskforce headed by General Okai Yeboah. Authorities say the move is to restore natural water flow and curb flooding in Accra after a 21-day ultimatum issued August 7. Business owners at La Pleasure Beach insist the land belongs to Ga traditional owners and a court case over ownership is still pending, rejecting the 24-hour notice given.
MP Rita Sowah insists she will block any move on 37, warning that any attempt to touch the lorry station will face stiff opposition from her office and the La people. She says she is putting it on record that government has no knowledge of the demolition and is demanding accountability from Labadi Beach Hotel Board.
