Accra: Powder Man Fraud Case Adjourned To November 16
The case involving Kailani Ibrahim Kpa, popularly known as Powder Man, has been adjourned to 16 November 2026 by an Accra court to allow investigators more time to probe the alleged visa and travel fraud.
The accused appeared before the court in Accra as prosecutors requested additional time. The court granted the adjournment to enable detectives to complete background checks on travel documents and alleged victims. Powder Man remains under investigation for suspected fraud.
Prosecutors told the court that more complainants have come forward since the arrest. They said forensic analysis of visa stickers and flight bookings is still ongoing. The defense did not oppose the short adjournment. According to the Ghana Police Service, investigations into alleged visa and travel fraud require verification from embassies and the Ghana Immigration Service.
Under Ghana law, visa fraud and travel document forgery fall under the Criminal Offences Act and the Immigration Act. Suspects can face charges of defrauding by false pretences and possession of forged documents. Courts often grant adjournments where prosecutors show active steps to gather overseas verification. Bail remains at the discretion of the court.
The case has attracted public attention due to the nickname Powder Man and claims of wide victim network. Police have urged persons who paid money for foreign travel arrangements to report with receipts. The next hearing on 16 November 2026 is expected to address progress of investigations and possible formal charges.
