Learning Personability

“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” — Romans
15:7 ESV

Personability is the ability to make people feel seen, valued, and welcome. It is the warmth of Christ expressed through your attitude, your words, and your presence. Jesus was the most personable person who ever lived — children ran to Him, sinners felt safe with Him, and the weary found rest in Him. The world is full of information, but what people are really hungry for is connection. Personability builds bridges that the Gospel can walk across. “To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some” — 1 Corinthians 9:22 ESV.

Paul learned to meet people where they were, without compromising truth. Learning personability means choosing to notice people. A smile. Remembering a name. Asking how they’re really doing. Listening without rushing to fix. Celebrating with those who rejoice and weeping with those who weep — Romans 12:15 ESV.

It means being approachable, not intimidating. Honoring, not superior. We cannot fake this. Flesh is self-focused and easily irritated. We need the Holy Spirit to form Christ’s character in us. “But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
self-control” — Galatians 5:22 ESV.

When you are filled with the Spirit, He softens your heart and teaches you how to love people the way God loves them. Don’t just be right. Be warm. Don’t just have a message. Be a message. As you grow in personability, you reflect Jesus — and people are drawn to Him through you.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for welcoming me. Fill me with Your Spirit and teach me personability. Help
me to see people the way You see them. Make me kind, gentle, and attentive. Use my life to make
others feel the love of God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
